Microblading Info & FAQ

Hello gorgeous!

We understand how nerve-racking it can be trying to ascertain your perfect Microblading artist or instructor. Listed below and in our FAQ link is everything you need to know and if you have any questions you can text us at any time at 714-642-6182.

Established in 2015, you can trust your face in the hands of our certified, licensed, and experienced technicians. Our technicians have completed thousands of procedures. When you come in we will walk you through each and every decision before applying anything.

PLEASE LOOK FOR OUR LOGO. Although we hold the registered trademark rights to 3D Microblading™ we have many competitors using the terms in their names.  Please don't confuse us with them.

3D Microblading™ is the latest trend in beauty. It is a manual method of implanting pigment, in hair-like strokes, in the epidermis to create the look of youthful, full, natural-looking eyebrows.

We also offer the latest technique Powder Fill aka Ombre brows for those who don't want to fill their brows in more with makeup. The combination of the Microblading  + Powder Fill technique is our FAVORITE. This technique uses both a hand tool for precise hair strokes and Powder fill with a machine that provides a more realistic look by shading where the hair would naturally overlap and braid together, mimicking a soft powder makeup effect. This technique is recommended for clients with scars, oily skin, mature skin, or taking medication and tends to last longer as the machine penetrates the epidermis deeper than the hand tool alone. We love the results and highly recommend this to new and existing clients.

Please read and verify the "Candidate" page before scheduling.

Only our licensed & certified master technicians complete each procedure. Our techs have over 16 years of combined experience and are required to complete 500+ procedures to be considered a Master Technicians. To become a student model please submit an application under the "Student Models" link. Students are supervised and assisted by master techs.

Each session begins with a consultation where your technician measures your face to ensure symmetry, designs the perfect brow shape with you, and goes over color options beginning the procedure.  It takes about 2-4 hours in total and is all done in one appointment.

We use the best and latest pigments made in the USA and our tools are disposable for your safety.

Permanent/semi-permanent cosmetics are a process. Like going blonde it can take sessions to achieve goals. Some skin types require a 5-week touch-up to achieve goals. 5 weeks is required between appointments to avoid the development of scar tissue. 5-8 week touch-ups are recommended to perfect and prolong your results. Clients with oily skin and/or scars may need a third session. If the skin doesn't retain the Microblading well we recommend adding Powder fill which penetrates deeper and has better-healed results. Please refer to our service list for current touch-up pricing and specials.

3D Microblading™ is a semi-permanent tattoo that lasts 6-16 months depending on your skin type, sun exposure, skin products (acids such as vitamin A, Vitamin C, retinol, etc.), medication, facials, laser treatments, etc. To maintain shape and color we recommend a touch-up 6-16 months. On average our clients with oily skin come in for touch-ups every 6-10 months and 10-16 months for normal to dry skin. This is the average of our clients but everyone retains differently depending on the reasons listed above. Like all beauty treatments be it botox, hair dye, veneers, breast augmentation, etc. you need to maintain every so often. It is up to each individual to weigh out the cost and time required to apply daily vs the cost of semi-permanent cosmetics.

THIS IS LOW MAINTENANCE NOT NO MAINTENANCE.

Pain is almost obsolete when the strong numbing gel penetrates the skin. We have strong topical lidocaine and reapply throughout the procedure. Most clients rate the pain 1 out of 10 for Microblading with our numbing at no additional cost.

FAQs

Do you have multiple locations?

No. We started our business in Huntington Beach, CA in a 110 square foot room in 2015. We have since expanded to our gorgeous full-size studio and training facility in Orange, California. Our one and only location is 1111 Town and Country Rd #21 Orange, CA 92868. Please don't confuse us with people violating our registered trademark 3D Microblading eyebrows. We are pursuing legal action and apologize for any confusion.

Why are old tattoos,  Microblading aka semi-permanent makeup cover-ups more expensive?

Old Microblading, permanent and semi-permanent makeup are all considered tattoos and are much more difficult than a blank canvas because in most cases they are considered corrections.

The older technique used a regular tattoo machine, which goes very deep into the dermis and typically does tissue damage. Microblading and Powder fill is gently applied to the top layers of the epidermis, which can result in needing several sessions for the pigment to stick to a traditional eyebrow tattoo. Old ink often heals cool (blue/green) vs the new pigments which are warm and designed to be semi-permanent.

Damaged tissue, old ink, and other artist work can be difficult to cover and require more tools, supplies, time, certifications and expertise. We require cover-ups of any kind select the Microblading+ Powder fill combo option to ensure our artist is able to cover the old work. Cover-ups are also required to book Microblading+ Powder fill touch-ups, which are discounted once you become our existing client.

*Not all technicians offer cover-ups for these reasons. Our specialist is happy to do a text consult at 714-642-6182  to let you know what your options are. We are always transparent and honest with our clients. Thank you for understand.

What is the difference between 3D and 6D Microblading and Ombre aka Powder Eyebrows?

Microblading is hair strokes applied once by one with a hand tool to create hyper-realistic looking hair strokes in the brow line. Microblading is ideal for normal to dry skin. Microblading, 3D Microblading, and 6D Microblading are all the same technique.

Microblading & Powder Brows is a great option to achieve more of a soft makeup look plus hair strokes and is a great option for most skin types including oily, mature skin, scars, and clients taking medication.

Ombré is a semi-permanent powder brows technique for clients who prefer fuller and more defined results. The tails of the brow are darker and fade lighter in towards the center, giving an Ombré makeup affect.

Oily skin, mature skin, scars, and medication can cause fine hair strokes to heal blurry and blotchy. The machine technique is more forgiving and a great solution if the Microblading doesn’t heal well.

What is Microblading?

Microblading is a semi-permanent tattoo. Each hair stroke is manually applied one by one with a hand tool vs a machine, to give natural-looking results.

Does Microblading hurt?

We use not one but two types of lidocaine on the treated are area. We use a topical and another for once the skin is broken.

Your technician reapplies numbing throughout the procedure. Pain is minimal, if at all.

How long until I need a touch-up?

3D Microblading™ is a semi-permanent tattoo that lasts 6-12 months depending on your skin type, sun exposure, skin products, medication, facials, etc.. To maintain shape and color we recommend a touch up 8-16 months. Average our clients come in for touch-ups is 6-10 months for oily skin and 10-16 months for dryer skin.

Do the technicians have certifications?

All of our technicians are Certified and Licensed. We require 500+ procedures to consider a technician a Master Technician. All of out techs are trained and experienced permanent cosmetic artist.

Can I book a consultation appointment?

Every Microblading appointment booked begins with a mini consultation where we determine your shape and decide on a color.  We recommend scheduling a separate consultation if you are unsure about the Microblading procedure and are not ready to commit to the actual appointment.  We do charge for a consultation appointment and this fee is not applied toward your Microblading appointment if you later decided to commit and schedule. At this appointment, we will shape your eyebrows and go over color options and ensure you are ready for Microblading. Bring in your eyebrow makeup and any inspirational photos you may have. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee the appointment can be made the same day of your consultation appointment if the artist's schedule does not permit.

I had microblading done elsewhere. Can I have my touch up done at 3D Microblading?

We often get clients that are unhappy with their previous Microblading or have relocated. We ask to please text 3 unedited or cropped photos of the previous work done to our Customer Careline  714-642-6182  for a text consult. We still go through the same process as a new client to ensure measurements are correct and the pigment is consistent.

Is Microblading safe?

It's not worth risking your health to save a few bucks on Groupon or at a nail salon when it comes to Microblading. It is very important to consider skill and standards on top of the cost when selecting your artist. At 3D Microblading Eyebrows, we cut no cost and use all disposable tools, the best pigments and pride ourselves on a clean facility beyond health code requirements for the safety of our clients.

Can I get Microblading if I have health issues or am on medication?

You have to get clearance from your doctor before getting Microblading.

How long does Microblading last?

Microblading can last 6-12 months depending on skin type, sun exposure, aftercare & daily facial regimen. We recommend annual touch-ups to maintain color and shape.

How much does Microblading cost?

We run specials every month. The average cost for Microblading in Orange County is $600-900 and Microblading cost in LA is an average of $900-$1800. Use caution if prices are very low because the "technician" is most likely inexperienced, not certified, insured or licensed and is most likely not using sanitary disposable tools which can result in infection and even bloodborne disease (hepatitis, HIV, etc.). Ask for before and after photos, healed results and do your research looking for reviews about the artist.

How long does Microblading take?

Microblading takes about 2-4 hours including numbing time.

How often do you have to get Microblading touched up?

We recommend getting Microblading touch-ups every year. Clients that like a dark, rich color come every 6 months. It all depends on how your skin holds the pigment and your preference.  Please remember to take the same precautionary measures for your retouch appointment.

How do I pick a color for Microblading?

We have a large variety of pigment  15+ color options to choose from. We sample them against your skin to make sure it's a perfect match. We try to get as close to the color of your brows as to not tell the difference between your brow hair and the Microbladed strokes. You want to consider that the pigment fades  20-40% on average when the new skin heals over the Microblading.

Do I have to shave my eyebrows before Microblading?

NO! You do not have to shave off your brows before Microblading, in fact, we can blend the hair to make it look even more natural. If you have black brows and want a lighter color or vice versa, we recommend getting them tinted to the color you prefer a few days before your Microblading appointment, so your technician can color match to your tinted eyebrow. You can remove the hair if you'd prefer. We do recommend getting the unwanted strays either waxed or threaded before your appointment as to not over irritate the skin the day you do Microblading.

I have no eyebrow hair. Am I a candidate?

Microblading is ideal if you have no hair. Many of our clients have no hair from over-plucking or medical reasons. Our technicians are trained to design your eyebrows off the bone structure and eye placement, so having hair or lack thereof does not stand as an issue.

I have ethnic skin, am I able to do microblading?

You want to consider a couple of things if you have ethnic skin. Ethnic skin often has issues with micro-pigmentation. If you have any scars that have turned white if you keloid or have any tattoos that have raised skin over the tattooed area or did not heal well we do not recommend microblading. Also, the microblading will fade 20-40% on average so if you have a darker skin tone you are risking it fading substantially and may not be visible when your skin heals over. Please feel free to text any questions and/or photos to our customer care line at 714-642-6182.

I have a scar on my brow area, can I microblade over?

Scar tissue has a more difficult time gripping pigment. Some clients take the pigment well and others may need a few more sessions.

What is the downtime after Microblading?

There is no downtime after Microblading. Redness and swelling will go down after a few hours. You want to avoid moisture and anything that can cause infection for a few days after Microblading.

What do I do to prep for Microblading?

You want to avoid anything that can thin the blood including medication, alcohol, and caffeine. You want to be of fish oil and harsh skin regimens for at least two weeks before Microblading. If you tint your brows, you should do so a week before. You do not want to tint after until Microblading is completely healed. If you get botox we recommend getting it done 2 weeks before your appointment to make sure muscles have settled into place. Please remember to take the same precautionary measures for your retouch appointment.

Can I wear makeup on the day of my appointment?

Yes, we clean and sanitize the area before beginning the procedure. We do like to see how our clients are used to wearing their makeup.

Can I work out or go swimming after Microblading?

We recommend not swimming or going in the sauna for two weeks. You want to avoid bacteria getting on the treated area for a week to avoid infection and fading.

Can I change the shape or color after my first Microblading sessions?

Yes, you can adjust color, go thicker, add shading and adjust the shape at your touch up appointment(s).

What is Microblading aftercare?

Our technicians send you home with an ointment and aftercare instructions. You want to avoid touching them, sweat and moisture for a week.  Apply a thin layer of Aquaphor for 4 days after to act as a barrier and help with itching and flaking. Do not apply too much. You want the skin to be able to breathe. You can rinse gently with warm water, antibacterial soap and apply ointment with a q-tip after 24 hours. Do not use any harsh face wash or creams on the brow area. The brows may appear darker a few days after Microblading when the skin begins to heal. Some flaking may occur, do not pick. It may appear patchy while the new skin heals over but strokes usually resurface a few weeks into healing if that does occur. Some people don't have any flaking or awkward phase in the healing process. This all depends on each individual's skin and how they heal. Any tweaks can easily be made at your follow

up appointment. Failure to follow the aftercare could impact your healed results. Please remember to take the same precautionary measures for your retouch appointment.

Do I have to be 18 to get Microblading done?

Microblading is technically a tattoo so we require all clients to be over 18 and have proper Identification.
